Cataract Treatment
Stages of Cataract Surgery
Pre-Assessment: During the preoperative process, your eye doctor will evaluate your eye health and determine whether you are a suitable candidate for surgery. Steps such as eye examination, vision tests, and assessment of eye structure are performed.
Anesthesia: Cataract surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia. The surface of the eye is numbed using topical anesthetic eye drops.
Incision Creation: Small incisions are made to remove the cataractous lens from the eye.
Lens Placement: An artificial lens is inserted to replace the removed lens. This lens remains in place for your lifetime. However, over time, the lens may become cloudy. If such a condition occurs, a quick and easily performed laser procedure can restore the lens’s clarity.
Recovery Process: After the surgical intervention, the patient is usually discharged on the same day. The healing process of the eye typically takes about one week.
These information reflect the general process. However, the process can be different for each patient, and the stages can vary depending on the doctor’s evaluation and the patient’s needs.
