Frequently Asked Questions
How should the sleeping position be after hair transplantation?
To avoid contact with the sowing area, we recommend sleeping at a 45-degree angle and placing two pillows under the head. It is important to sleep on your back and keep the head elevated.
When can I have sexual intercourse after hair transplantation?
When sexual intercourse can be started after hair transplantation may vary depending on the recovery rate of the person after surgery. Body movements during sexual activity may cause excessive sweating and blood pressure may increase. For this reason, avoiding sexual activity for 2 weeks helps to prevent damage to the transplanted hair follicles.
Can I swim in the sea after hair transplantation?
Generally, there may be skin sensitivity, redness and crusting during the first few weeks after hair transplantation. During this period, the skin is still in the healing stage and there may be a risk of infection. After the scabs on the scalp fall off after the operation, you can swim in the sea. This period is approximately 4 weeks.
Is it allowed to smoke after hair transplantation?
Smoking can narrow blood vessels and weaken blood circulation. This can prevent the hair follicles from getting enough oxygen and nutrients during the healing process. After hair transplantation, good blood circulation is critical for the nourishment and attachment of the transplanted hair follicles. For this reason, we recommend not smoking at least 1 week before the hair transplant operation and at least 15 days after the operation.
Can I drink alcohol after hair transplantation?
Alcohol can dilate blood vessels and increase blood pressure. This can cause problems in the post-hair transplant period when the transplanted hair follicles need good blood circulation and oxygen intake. For this reason, we recommend not consuming alcohol at least 1 week before the hair transplant operation and at least 15 days after the operation.
What is shock shedding?
The shock shedding process is a normal and temporary phase that can be observed up to the end of the third month following a hair transplant. The process concludes from the fourth month, and permanent hair begins to grow. Patients should be informed about this in advance and advised not to be affected by the process.
How long after hair transplantation can a hat or beret be worn?
We do not recommend wearing a hat or beanie during the first month after a hair transplant. Keeping the transplanted area well-ventilated is important for the healing process. The hat or beanie should not be tight on the head, should be loose, comfortable, and breathable, and should not be worn for more than 2 hours a day. To prevent graft loss, it is advisable to use breathable, cotton products.
